There have been many exciting shifts in the fashion world lately, and the latest is the transitions happening at one of the most prestigious British labels. Burberry will be expected to release some show-stopping accessories this Autumn/Winter under the new direction of Sabrina Bonesi. Christopher Bailey will be promoted to President of the label and will also remain in his Creative Director role, whilst Marco Gobbetti is set to join the fold as CEO this July.
Bonesi was previously the Head Designer for women’s leather goods at Dior and has also worked for other major fashion houses including Prada and Bottega Veneta, putting her in good stead to create some exciting new collections for the brand.
Gobbetti will be joining the label from his current position as CEO at Céline. With Burberry reporting that 40% of their revenue currently comes from accessories, it seems that this is an area they will be shifting their focus to in the coming seasons. Bonesi’s role is a new role at the label. Both Céline and Dior are known for creating some of the most highly sought after bags, often worn by the likes of Gigi Hadid and Rihanna.
There is no doubt that Bailey, Gobbetti and Bonesi will become an accessories all-star team and the fashion world will be watching to see what they create.
