When it comes to choosing your Chanel bag, size certainly matters. The subtle differences between the bags mean that they are for different uses and occasions, with some such as the mini bags being mostly used for the evening, to the ever versatile and formal medium flap bag. However, what if you want a bag that has some extra space? This is when the Jumbo and Maxi sizes come in.
First of all, it is important to know the difference in dimensions. The jumbo is 30cm wide and 20cm tall, with 10cm depth. The maxi is the largest of the classic flap family, coming in at 34cm wide, 23cm tall and 10cm depth. The few centimetres difference might not sound like much, but they make a huge difference. You might think that the maxi size is more casual as it is larger - but again, you'd be wrong. The jumbo bag has a longer shoulder strap so that it can be worn across the body, and is in fact the most 'daytime' appropriate bag that Chanel do in the classic flap series. The maxi bag is not made to be worn across the body.
So why buy the maxi? For one thing it is a rarer bag. If you want to purchase a Chanel bag that you might not see all the time walking the streets of London, the maxi is a better option for you. It is also large enough to carry a 13 inch laptop inside, meaning it is possibly the chicest and most glamorous bag that is suitable for the office. It also looks great on taller women. The size means you can carry everything you could possibly need, but it isn't a huge bag that feels too large.
The jumbo is of course an extremely popular size to buy, and for good reason. It's versatility means it can be worn day or night, and has more than enough room for your daily essentials. So the choice is yours!
