This week, the much anticipated first look at what is to be expected from Clare Waight-Keller's vision of Givenchy was released, and it is exactly what the brand needed. Under the long reign of Riccardo Tisci, Givenchy entered a cool, edgy and urban aesthetic which saw its popularity surge amongst celebrities, and Tisci's friends such as the Kardashians and Jenners.
Waight-Keller appears to have remained true to the house's roots and is keeping the celebrities at bay in the ad campaign, in favour of upcoming models. Although Waight-Keller is known for her feminine and romantic designs under Chloé, she has kept to the brand's dark and edgy aesthetic, which will be a welcome continuation.
The new campaign is titled 'Transformation Seduction', and is shot in black and white by Steven Meisel. It also features cats, after Waight-Keller discovered that Hubert de Givenchy was an animal lover. More will be revealed at Paris Fashion Week this year, and everyone will be eagerly waiting to see more of what the first ever woman at the helm of this iconic fashion label will have in store.
