The last time French fashion house Chanel launched a new bag line that took the fashion world by storm, it was the Boy bag in 2011. Since then, the Boy has been imitated throughout the industry, and certainly brought the classic flap bags back into the spotlight, with a flurry of them being splashed across Instagram pages.
For Spring 2017, they have launched the Gabrielle bag. This new collection of bags is available in three shapes and truly epitomises the classic style of the brand. Under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion house has continuously created their famous bags that are worn as the statement piece for women who want to be chic and stylish.
This new Gabrielle comes as a modern take on a classic Chanel bag. The boxy shape is on trend for this year and it also features versatile straps – which can be worn as a crossbody, over the shoulder or, if worn together, to create a chain necklace effect. This allows the woman wearing the bag to really show her personality, which reflects the essence of Chanel. It also comes in a range of sizes to suit the preference of the customer, currently available in easy to wear nudes and monochrome.
The name – Gabrielle, is a homage to the founder of the house, and this exquisite new design is every bit as classy as she was. As Lagerfeld continues to lead the fashion pack in terms of futuristic high fashion accessories, the lines between masculine and feminine continue to be blurred, and as such this bag is already being worn by both men and women including Kristen Stewart and Pharrell Williams. This bag is expected to be the new it bag for the year.
As Coco Chanel said, a girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.
