There was a recent shake up at fashion house Valentino, after Maria Grazia Chiuri announced her exit from the label in 2016 for the Creative Director position at Dior, ending her long time partnership with Pierpaolo Picciolo. This made way for Picciolo to put his own stamp on future collections for the brand.
Picciolo’s debut solo collection for the brand was shown during their pre-fall runway show for 2017, which has now hit stores. The most exciting bag to emerge was the new style, Demilune. A soft and supple leather bag which features the ever popular rock studs, but with a sophisticated design that lends itself to be carried to the office.
The bag features structured leather straps as well as a longer shoulder strap, and a delicate, feminine chain detail on the front. If your looking for a new staple handbag, this is it. For a fun and bold version, they have made a full sequin Demilune available at Bergdorf Goodman. This new bag also comes in a delicate clutch version, which is perfect for the evening.
Picciolo’s evolution of Valentino’s accessories has now been continued with their resort collection, which was shown in New York City on the 23rd May. The designer channelled a sport luxe look for the collection, which was perfectly summery with accessories in candy colours and stark white contrasting studs. The new colouring of the studs successfully freshened up the classic look for the brand.
The new look was featured on a large range of styles, including a saddle bag, classic shoulder bags, large duffle bags and even the newly fashionable belt bag. A Demilune flap bag in classic black also made its way into the show.
